Inspiring confident individual style

Hi, I'm Carla Burrell

My Approach

As a professionally trained personal stylist and psychotherapist, my goal is to help clients understand the connection between emotional well-being and personal style. I want to help clients align their style with their inner identity to create complete personal cohesion. Confidence is internal but it is reinforced by how we present ourselves and there is a psychology and evidence behind this. My approach is rooted in the belief that style is not about the latest fashion must-haves, but about personal expression. From wardrobe overhauls to complete style transformations, I use my expertise to help you define a style that expresses who you truly are and gives you the confidence that is yours for the taking.

My practice is rooted in the belief that style is incredibly personal and I will never push my style onto others. My advice is tailored specifically to you and your needs. I believe everyone deserves to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin and I am passionate about helping you achieve that sense of self-assurance so that you no longer seek external approval.

My own styling journey...

Every new season as a kid we would get a bag of hand-me-down clothes from my aunt and her family of three boys and two girls. I LOVED rifling through those bags and trying everything on, picturing each new situation where I might wear that particualr outfit. It didn't matter to me that they had already been worn or that some items were meant for boys- they were new to me and the mismatching made me quite experimental!

Training to be a personal stylist and starting my own business I have realised a lifelong dream. I have integrated all my previous work experience, from radiography and Psychotherapy via medical sales and combined them all to be a compassionate, customer centric and confident personal stylist. I have changed careers a number of times which gives me a very broad perspective of the world and my client base, but the constants that remain are my love of people and the desire to help them, and my love of shopping and style. To combine them is match made in heaven and sheer joy for me.

I embraced my inherent sense of style which has always been affirmed through positive comments and advice sought from friends and family over the years and turned it into a career with two different face to face intensive training courses, a week spent with John Lewis Personal Styling department and continued development training online with the Style Coaching Institute.

Even now I love second hand and am quite proud of the finds I've made from time to time.

You can find this video on my instagram but I made during #SecondhandSeptember 2024. Its a stunning Diane Von Furstenburg snakeprint blazer that I picked up in a charity shop in Clapham and can be dressed up or down as demonstrated here.

The most important thing for me is that getting dressed is fun and an adventure!
